James Bachmann was seconded into the Public Health team during the Covid-19 pandemic and am proud to say he has been a huge asset to both the team and residents. He was instrumental in setting up the first permanent Covid-19 testing site in a London Borough, which has significantly improved access to testing for our vulnerable BAME populations. He is also currently: putting plans in place for a second permanent testing site in Redbridge; planning a comprehensive programme of activities to respond to the outbreaks; and delivering innovative video and text messaging to improve Covid-19 testing uptake. Although James is not a trained Public Health Practitioner, his strategic view for improving health and wellbeing and overall understanding of the wider determinants of health demonstrates the skills of a practitioner. As a team we welcome James’ input and hope that he pursues a career in public health in the future.
