Janus, the Roman god who gave us January, had a clear job description: watch out over doors, gates and bridges and keep the nasties out of homes and all buildings where’s there a doorway.

Fortunately he, or possibly she, had the talent of looking both ways, two-faced in the nicest sense of the word. As we grit our teeth to get through the year’s least welcome month, let’s spare a thought for Janus. He had a lot on his plate. As well as all those doorways, he ruled over life events – births, marriages and deaths, and the seasons too, not forgetting the New Year.

I love the experience of New Year’s Eve, when friends send messages that seem more originally crafted than those of Christmas.  From our friend and colleague Richard Hartnell came this simple, beautiful, compelling image which is surely here to stay in my mind throughout the year. Its clever and calm with a clear message: we can turn things around.

Janus would be proud of that ’22, with its symmetry and optimism. We weren’t around to give Janus a hand with his elaborate job description but Chamberlain Dunn with Hartnell is here to help you turn things around – refresh your image, build your profile and deliver the vision for your organisation.

So here’s to a successful 2022.
