As a Community Safety Practitioner commissioned by public Health and employed in an emergency
department, Carrie’s secondment to Thames Valley Police offered an important opportunity to identify and
help young people who may become involved in violence. Despite the challenges of during the COVID-19
pandemic, Carrie’s passion and knowledge has been a significant enhancement both to the local
community safety partnership and the newly formed Thames Valley Violence Reduction Unit. She has
worked hard to continue to develop the Information Sharing for Tackling Violence (ISTV) dataset both in
her own trust and now expanding into surrounding areas, which will develop the capability to spot
emerging issues and prevent harm from happening. The police reflect that Carrie collaborates well with
partners to bring improvements to the system and they look forward to working with her to build more
robust processes to reduce harm.
