Nominator Louise Dibsdall, Acting Consultant in Public Health, says that Abbie is a shining example of how public health work can make a real difference to people’s lives. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Abbie worked tirelessly in her health protection role: ensuring our local residents and staff were supported for seasonal flu vaccinations; promoting uptake of immunisation programmes; working with partners on our local TB reduction programme; and responding to other threats to health and wellbeing. However, since the pandemic began, Abbie has gone above and beyond her role, supporting the DPH to respond to the crisis. Her key achievements have included supporting local care homes as the single point of contact, responding to their queries and concerns in a very timely and highly professional manner. She has also taken the lead on running highly informative webinars for both internal and external partners. She shows great commitment to promoting health and wellbeing in everything she does.
