With immaculate timing, the Academy for Healthcare Science has launched an on-line journal about leadership. The Healthcare Science Leadership Journal, co-edited by Shelley Heard and Keith Ison, aims to showcase how leadership in healthcare science can influence and support excellent patient care.

As the editors say: ‘ The ways in which those in healthcare science have responded to the pandemic provide ample evidence that, when given encouragement, support and freedom to act, this diverse workforce demonstrates the imagination, ability and drive to rapidly overcome problems and take on new challenges.’

Contributors reach far beyond the COVID crisis. Arthi Anand describes the barriers to leadership diversity and suggests some solutions. Jack Stancel-Lewis tells us how co-production and action learning helped him with his project to support people with their sensory health. Anna Stec shows how she led, designed and delivered a service to discourage unnecessary antibiotic prescription. Basit Abdul describes what he and colleagues put in place to give Global Clinical Engineering Day real impact in 2020. And there’s lots more.

The aim is to build it up to four issues a year next year, available to AHCS registrants and its wider community. To see the first issue, go to  https://www.ahcs.ac.uk/home/hcs-leadership-journal/ where you can sign up to receive a subscription.
